Bill Robinson

U19 Girls Coach

“Through my love of rugby and the Development of girls and giving them the confidence that they can achieve so much, this is the best role. Personally I have two daughters and to have the opportunity to see mine and others peoples daughters go on an intense journey on steep learning curve fills me with pride. Win or lose as long as they bring intensity and effort, they still win. I am a trainer in my full time career and the biggest sense of achievement is seeing young people develop life skills. Through rugby the girls learn to compete with the the spirit and values that life will always throw at them. Win or lose be professional and respectful. Rugby unlike other sports instills this in young people and I love helping them on the journey with the warriors who live and breathe these values.”

Carl Burgess

U10s and U16s Head Coach

“Rugby has been one of the most important things in my life since 12 years old. Some of my biggest influencers to heading down the coaching were my own coaches during my teenage years who I still keep in contact with today. The influence they had made my decision to pursue a career that would mean I would be around this environment constantly. I have now been teaching physical education in Dubai for 6 years. During studying for my degree in sports and exercise science I began coaching at wru coaching camps from ages 8 to 14 and getting my level 1 wru coaching and refereeing badges. From my own experience at playing international level at 15 I knew how fundamental these years can be for not only continuation in the sports but enhancing skill levels for later years. This meant during my teaching time in wales I focused on coaching from u12s to u19s. One of my fondest memories from coaching would be taking my under 16s team to the final of of the biggest sevens tournament in wales and winning the league with our very own warriors under 16s.”

George Cliff

Director of Rugby

“I’ve been involved in Rugby for over half my life, playing from 10 and coaching at my first Rugby League team aged 15 at my old school back home. That passion spiralled into my coaching and officiating levels, a Coaching degree and Sports Psychology Masters before moving to DESC in 2014. Since then, I have completed my PGCE and a Masters in Coaching, working across schools and clubs at all ages, from our Little Warriors, to coaching Women’s teams and the UAE U18 and U20s, aiming to support the growth of the game in the UAE. My proudest achievement is introducing Girls Rugby to DASSA schools; the growth across schools and clubs has been incredible! Being with the Warriors and the people who make the club has kept me in Dubai, I don’t know what I’d do without them!”

Kylie Masur

Rugby Development Officer

“I started rugby quite late in life in the year 2017,  but once I started I haven’t looked back.  Since starting rugby I have made some incredible friends, memories, strides and have gained opportunities I could only dream of.  I was able to represent the UAE National Women’s 7s team in Qatar and Thailand, and won the Dubai 7’s with my club team getting the opportunity to play on Pitch 1 at the elusive competition.  Since then, my desire to learn more about the game continued to grow and I have educated myself in coaching courses and just recently completed the medic course.  Rugby has led me to the Warriors where I get to invest all my time into growing the sport and more specifically our amazing club.”

Tara Cooney

U19 Girls Head Coach

“I initially got involved in rugby when I moved to Dubai in 2014 and joined a women’s 7s team. Since then, my passion for the sport has grown and throughout the years I have developed as a coach and player and I am currently a player on the UAE Women’s 7s team. With my background in physical education, I was grateful with the opportunity to develop and grow girls’ rugby across UAE and be involved in coaching girls’ rugby.

My goal in the UAE is to inspire as many girls, especially Emirati girls to take up rugby and to empower them to experience the true values of rugby that would develop them to become well rounded and confident young women. Being involved in Warriors Rugby Club has been a fantastic experience, being surrounded by supportive and sporting families who create the core atmosphere of the club is something that can be hard to find in Dubai. I thoroughly enjoy my time coaching the U19 girls and will continue to act as a role model and mentor for these ‘true warriors’.”

“Originally from Manchester, UK I grew up competing in football and athletics, I switched to playing Rugby in 2015 where I played for Wanderers Rugby Club for 5 years in the premiership league whilst living in Singapore. My passion for playing sport lead me into a career in sports coaching and education, I hold a BSc in Sports and Exercise and a MSc in Sports Strength and Conditioning and have worked in professional rugby and football in the UK. More recently I worked for Singapore Rugby Union where I was part of the coaching staff to lead the woman’s 7s team in the Asian 7s series, Asian Games and South East Asia Games. I am currently a PE teacher at GEMS First Point School having recently relocated from Singapore with my wife and two boys. I have been very impressed with the welcome I have received from all involved at the Warriors and am looking forward to being part of the club.”
